Best Time & Conditions for Scuba Diving in Cancun
Scuba Diving Cancun is year-round. Seas are generally calm and visibility ranges from 15–30 m (50–100 ft) depending on winds and currents. Water temperature is warm most of the year: roughly 27–29 °C (81–84 °F) in summer and 24–26 °C (75–79 °F) in winter. Summer often brings the calmest seas, while winter “nortes” can add some chop, so we choose sites daily for safety and the best visibility.
Expect vibrant reefs, schools of grunts and snappers, green and hawksbill turtles, southern stingrays and the occasional nurse shark. Currents are usually mild to moderate; we match the site to your experience. Certified divers can request an optional wreck when suitable (Advanced + recent dives). Beginners enjoy easy depths and relaxed conditions at MUSA/reef.
If you’re planning a short stay, mornings (8:30–12:30) tend to offer the steadiest conditions. If you prefer a slower start, afternoons (12:00–16:00) are a great fit. For first-timers, our Discover Scuba runs 10:00–16:00 with skills at 10:00 and boat 12:00–16:00. Whatever your level, Scuba Diving Cancun means small groups, clear USD pricing and easy Hotel Zone check-in.
